1950s Mattel Modern Mid-Century Doll Furniture Danish-Style Buffet Vintage Barbie Size
Before Mattel got into the doll market, with their hugely successful Barbie dolls, they made a range of doll-sized furniture.
Based on the vogue for modern design during the 50s, this line represents the most desirable furniture of the time. The elegant lines of all the items in this range are quintessentially mid-century. Made ahead of Barbie's inception, the furniture is admittedly a little undersized for these fashion dolls. But it still looks great when judiciously paired with the right doll. We have included examples modeled by a Hong Kong clone doll, so you can get an idea of the true scale. We think they look great together! Note that this listing is for the furniture only, there is NO DOLL INCLUDED.
This listing is for the Danish-style Buffet, essential for any self-respecting 1950s home. Beautifully styled with great attention to detail, and the typical tapered legs. The buffet features a (working) sliding door, and three opening drawers. Please note that the top 'drawer' is non-functioning, and does not have a handle. There is some wear to the fabric covering the sliding door, but this buffet still displays nicely. See photos Correctly stamped on the underside: 'Mattel International MCMLLIII Japan'. In nice vintage condition, perfect for display. Measures approx: 2 3/4" d x 7" w x 4 1/2" h, it will pair well with the similarly-sized Mattel Modern Dresser.
