The kit comes with 2 pens, paper, ink and ink jar. The pencil case is not included in the normal set.
Details about the items:
1️⃣ Pen/ Qalam - One pen is handmade from a specific tree in Indonesia, shaped specifically for writing khat/ calligraphy. Another pen has a handmade writing tip with a holder with a beautiful design. The pen tips are varied from 0.3cm to 0.5cm.
As the olden days saying, if you often use the same pen, it will shaped how your fingers hold it.
2️⃣ Paper - Papers that complements with this kit is specifically used to make the learning and writing easier. It's glossy and will assist on gliding through the inked pen while writing the calligraphy.
3️⃣ Ink - The ink has been used many times to see if it is suitable with the pen tips. Indeed, this type of ink is very suitable for learning. It is thick and most of the time is washable depending on the surface. The ink bottle is securely capped where small child could not open.
4️⃣ The ink well is filled with gauze to make the ink absorbtion easier. We do not use sponge because we feel that the tip could easily get damaged or stuck on the sponge. You may add extra gauze if needed.
STEPS ON HOW TO USE THE KIT
✅ Read the paper included with the kit. This will tell you some history, background and introduction to this calligraphy.
✅ Make sure you have received all of the items included in the kit.
✅ Find a suitable place to write and learn. If you are new, you may look up for some tutorials. We will have our own tutorials later on.
✅ Take the paper and put it on the table or flat surface where you can write well. Sit up straight and keep your writing hand close to your side. The art of writing and learning calligraphy is about the way you sit and hold the pen.
✅ Open up the ink cap and put some ink into the ink well.
✅ Pick up the pen and try to dip the tip slowly on ink well.
✅ Angle the pen tip 45 degrees to the right and try to write the letter 'alif' to 'yaa'.
